ENGAGEMENT: A Consultation where EDC present things in a biased way and try to evade the law on fairness and balance.
MASTERPLAN: A Document designed to sell the idea of building on and behind the Beacon to the population of the District, full of ludicrous assertions like bringing 7000 jobs when EDC can’t even empty the bins, or building on the Beacon is the best way to protect it, or that building a new town with it’s own shops and facilities above Penrith will bring more trade to Penrith and mean less congestion to roads in the area.
LOW DENSITY DEVELOPMENT: Whatever Lowther want to build on the Beacon
GARDEN VILLAGE STATUS: Money from the Government EDC won’t talk about
EMERGING LOCAL PLAN: A plan EDC are trying to stuff the Masterplan into without anybody noticing
STAKEHOLDER GROUP: A group of a few landowners in favour of building on or behind the Beacon whose self appointed representative is Lowther
REPRESENTATIVE: A self appointed person
COUNCILLOR: Someone who is generally elected unopposed
EXECUTIVE: A group of 7 Tory Councillors only one of whom represents Penrith
DUCKING AND DIVING: The content of any letter from Rory Stewart MP to the Herald about the Masterplan
MONITORING OFFICER: An employee of the Council who writes legalistic answers to questions from the public, who stops Councillors saying things is public by mistake when answering questions and who suggests that anyone who interrupts a Councillor should be throw out of the meeting.
SCRUTINY COMMITTEE: A group of Councillors who didn’t scrutinise the Masterplan
LANDUSE: Consultants to both EDC and Lowther, possibly at the same time
CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Something it is best not to ask about if EDC
CODE OF CONDUCT: A old joke.
CROCKERY: Something people find easier to break than this Masterplan.
